Boston University College of Fine Arts Alumni Nominated for 2018 Tony Awards
The College of Fine Arts (CFA) at Boston University is pleased to announce CFA and Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) alums have been nominated for Tony Awards this season, including:
- Walter Trarbach (CFA’02), best sound design of a musical, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical;
- Lauren Ambrose (BUTI’94, BUTI’95), best actress in a musical, My Fair Lady.
The College of Fine Arts would like to recognize CFA and BUTI alums associated with productions nominated for Tony Awards this season, including:
- William D. Barclay (CFA’06, BUTI’98), UK Music Supervisor, best play, Farinelli and the King;
- Rachel Handman (BUTI’87), Violin for best revival of a musical, for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel;
- Greg Hildreth (CFA’05), “Olaf,” best musical, Frozen;
- Stephen M. Kaus (CFA’02), Manhattan Theatre Club Associate Artistic Producer, best play, The Children;
- Drew Levy (CFA’03, CFA’04), Associate Sound Designer, best musical, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical;
- Benjamin Pearcy (CFA’93), Projection Designer, best play, Junk;
- Alex Neumann (CFA’09), Sound Design, best revival of a musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel;
- Walter Trarbach (CFA’02), Sound Designer, best musical, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical;
- Sue Wagner (CFA’97), Executive Producer, best revival of a musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel; Producer, best revival of a play, Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women; and Producer best revival of a play, Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh.
BU alum Fred Zollo (CAS’75), producer of The Band’s Visit, was also nominated for Best Musical.
Hosted by Tony Award Nominees Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban, the 72nd annual Tony Awards will be broadcast on CBS Sunday, June 10, at 8 p.m. EDT from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
