Gabriella Reyes de Ramirez as she gets ready to represent BU in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Semi-Finals

On January 29th, 2017, two BU students sang in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Northeast Finals: Wee Kiat Chia, DMA countertenor and student of Professor Lynn Eustis, and Gabriella Reyes, first year Opera Institute student of Professor Penelope Bitzas. To top it off, Gabriella Reyes was announced as one of two first-place winners! As such, she will get to go to New York to compete in the National Semi-Finals.

The purpose of the National Council Auditions Program, sponsored by the Metropolitan Opera, is to find exceptionally talented opera singers and to assist them in their development, to discover new talent for the Metropolitan Opera, and to search for possible participants in the Young Artist Development Program of the Met.
