
Sarah Freiberg Ellison

Sarah Freiberg is a tenured member of the Handel and Haydn Society and Emmanuel Music. Cellist for Blue Hill Bach and the Kennebec Early Music Festival, she has performed with Boston Baroque, the New York Collegium, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (San Francisco), Portland Baroque (Oregon), Seattle Baroque, the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and Arion (Montreal).
As corresponding editor for STRINGS magazine, she has contributed dozens of articles and reviews. Sarah edited the long forgotten Guerini cello sonatas for both PRB Productions and Broude Brothers, and recorded Guerini and Laurenti cello sonatas for the Centaur label. Tutti Bassi, her duo with Colleen McGary-Smith, recorded “Have Cellos, Will Travel,” a CD of 18th century European musical gems, debuting on Centaur.
As well as teaching at BU, Sarah is Co-Chair of Strings at the Powers Music School in Belmont, MA, and maintains a busy home studio. Ms. Freiberg can be heard on numerous recordings. Learn more at sarahfreiberg.com.
