Nicole Wendl
Executive Director, BU Tanglewood Institute
Nicole Wendl is the Executive Director of Boston University Tanglewood Institute, bringing her rich background of private teaching, guest artist teaching, and public-school teaching to her work. In the role, she works closely with the BUTI faculty and senior staff to refine current programming and create new programming that embodies and exemplifies BUTI’s mission and values. This programming, and the standards BUTI holds itself to, benefits students’ growth as they take the next steps in their careers, whether in the field of music or any other.
In addition to her role at BUTI, Nicole is an actively performing violinist and holds section positions in orchestras around the U.S., as well as Assistant Concertmaster of Portsmouth Symphony and Associate Concertmaster of Opera Neo in San Diego, CA. While performing on stages across the U.S. and Europe and as a member of the Giannini String Quartet, she has earned many accolades and mentions in competition. Nicole is also dedicated to historically informed performance and was a member of the Bay Area Baroque Ensemble, and performs often as a guest of Magnolia Baroque in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
She is committed personally and professionally to facilitating connections between individuals from every walk of life and believes deeply in how much the collective “we” can learn from one another. In her personal life, she enjoys cooking delicious food, reading insightful literature, being outdoors, and hosting sight-reading soirees.
