Other Campus Facilities
Fitness and Recreation Center
The “FitRec” is located across the street from CELOP, and is free of charge to program participants. These are some of the things you can access at the FitRec:
- Workout Equipment
- Intramural Courts (soccer, basketball, etc.)
- Swimming Pools
- Rock Climbing Wall
- Running Track
Student Health Services
The SHS is an on-campus clinic located across the street from CELOP, and is free of charge to program participants.
All students are automatically enrolled in the BU Aetna Student Health Insurance. This insurance meets and exceeds the J-1 visa requirements for health insurance. It is required and cannot be waived.

Dormitory Housing
- BU dormitory housing is required. Your housing may be different from your BSMP classmates’ – some may live in dormitory rooms, while others may live in apartment style units – but everybody will live in a multiple-occupancy room with one or two roommates. IIE will not pay for single-occupancy housing, so please do not request a single.
- To register for housing, you must submit the online Residence License Agreement (RLA). See the Apply Now page for instructions.
- Bridge Housing: BSMP students are permitted to remain in their dormitories until they can move in to their new fall semester dormitory. This is called Bridge Housing. You will receive further instructions from your program advisor on how to apply for Bridge Housing.
