Cristina was born, raised, educated, and trained in Chile. In Chile, she worked for nine years with the Agriculture and Livestock Services (SAG) where she also gained experience doing field projects. She then worked for three years at the World Organization for Animal Health- WOAH (former OIE) in Paris, in the Department of Epidemiology and Animal Health Information; and for 10 years served as an animal health moderator for the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases (ProMED). Currently she resides in the United States where she works as a consultant on animal health, particularly conducting WOAH Performance of the Veterinary Services (PVS) and PVS Gap Analysis missions. More recently, she served as an expert on Joint External Evaluation reviews led by the PAHO/WHO, and as a facilitator with WHO IHR-WOAH PVS Pathway National Bridging Workshops.
