Ian Johnstone is a professor of International Law at the Fletcher School at Tufts University. From 2018 to 2019 he served as dean ad interim. From 2013 to 2015, he was the academic dean. Prior to joining Fletcher in 2000, Johnstone served in the United Nations’ Executive Office of the Secretary-General and Department of Peacekeeping Operations. He continues to work as an occasional consultant to the United Nations. He has published seminal books on international organizations, international law, and the United Nations. He is currently on the editorial boards of Global Governance and International Organizations Law Review. He is also a non-resident senior fellow at the Center on International Cooperation at New York University and a member of the International Advisory Board of the International Peace Institute. Dr. Johnstone’s current focus with CEID is international law and global health security.
