Museum of Science
Partnering with the Museum of Science for their 2025 spotlight theme, Being Human, CEID has several exciting collaborations throughout this year.
STEM career videos
As part of the museum’s free, online STEM curriculum for middle grade students, Boston high school students interviewed CEID faculty Dr. Cassandra Pierre, an infectious diseases physician, and Dr. Laura White, a biostatistician, for their perspectives on their respective health careers. These conversations are available as a series of short videos to educate students about the wide range of careers in STEM.
Events
Outbreak: Epidemics in a Connected World – May 8, 2025
Do you want to try your hand at being an outbreak responder? This interactive forum, co-hosted by CEID and the Museum of Science, will engage participants to walk through the decision-making process of responding to infectious disease threats such as avian influenza and Ebola.
Participants will work together to consider the many factors that play into these decisions, including availability of funding, testing and surveillance development, global partnerships, distribution of medical countermeasures, and alerts from the Biothreats Emergence, Analysis and Communications Network (BEACON).
Climate Change and One Health Symposium – Date TBD
In fall 2025, CEID and the Museum of Science will hold a symposium about One Health, which includes human, animal, plant, and environmental health. Stay tuned for more details.
Museum exhibit
CEID is developing a Museum of Science exhibit highlighting the impact of BEACON. Look for it in the museum in late 2025!
