CAS's Thomas Berger is an expert on security and diplomacy in Asia.

On October 9, 2006, North Korea’s leaders announced that they had successfully tested a nuclear device, making the nation the world’s ninth nuclear-armed state. As the United Nations Security Council considers its response, policy experts are concerned that North Korea’s actions will set off the nuclear arms race for the 21st century.

BU Today talked with Thomas Berger, an international relations associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, about possible reactions from the United Nations and the United States. Berger specializes in East Asian comparative government and national security.
