Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies

The Boston University Center for the Study of Asia is a proud member of the Division of Regional Studies (DRS) in the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, within the College of Arts and Sciences.

The DRS comprises the BU centers and programs dedicated to the study of Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and the Muslim world. With a combined faculty of nearly 200 from departments and schools throughout the University, the DRS is in a unique position both to support the growth of regional studies and to incubate cross-regional initiatives, share resources, and build synergies among the respective area studies programs

The Division has two main aims:

1) to develop and share with the public a deep knowledge of specific regions and their states, societies, cultures, languages, peoples, and environment;

2) to foster rigorous, transformative scholarship that crosses existing national, regional, and disciplinary boundaries.

BUCSA supports the mission of the Division by participating in the governance of the DRS, by coordinating teaching and research on Asia for the entire BU community, and by co-sponsoring activities with the other Centers and Programs, and the Pardee School of Global Studies.
