Join us for a screening of HONOR OF THE CITY - THE STORY OF THE WARSAW RISING (2013, 50 min., USA, Poland - English) followed by a discussion of the film by Igor Lukes, Professor of International Relations and History and Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Boston, and Marek Lesniewski-Laas, Honorary Consul of Poland in Boston. This epic film seeks to familiarize western audiences with the Warsaw Uprising and its legacy which served as an inspiration for several generations. In addition to the wealth of documentary material the film includes interviews with survivors of the uprising, commentaries of noted historians and politicians. To those familiar with the uprising, “Honor of the City” is one of the best documentaries on this subject; to others it will be indispensable in the understanding of the history of the Warsaw Uprising. A reception will follow the discussion. Free and open to the public. Organized by the Center for the Study of Europe in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Foundation, Boston.
