With midterms starting to arrive, this weekend’s lineup leans into stress-relieving and fun events on campus and across the city. From crafting and wellness workshops to a climbing session at FitRec to a free School of Theatre production, here are a few picks to help you step away from your studies for a bit.

Crafts & Connection

If you need a midweek reset, this drop-in at the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground might be just the thing. Student Health Services is hosting a casual crafting workshop where you can sit down, follow a few light prompts, and create something with your hands. No art experience is needed, and materials are provided. You can stop by, make something small, and spend time in a relaxed setting.

Thursday, February 19, 3 to 4 pm, Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground, 808 Commonwealth Ave., MLK Room (Room 211). Free admission; no registration required.

Intro to Pilates Reformer

FitRec is offering a one-session introduction to Pilates for students who want to try the reformer machines, but aren’t sure where to begin. The class covers foundational movements using both mat work and equipment, including the reformer, a bed-like machine with a platform that rolls back and forth when doing exercises. The session is designed for beginners and may be taken only once per semester.

Thursday, February 19, 5:30 to 6:30 pm, FitRec, 915 Commonwealth Ave. Cost: $30 for members, $35 for nonmembers. Registration required, here.

Learn to Belay

If you’ve been curious about the climbing wall at FitRec, but haven’t yet mustered the courage to try it, this session offers a chance to learn the basics. Participants will be introduced to belaying techniques at the Barreca Climbing Wall and will prepare for the standard belay test used at most climbing gyms. The course is suited for beginners as well as those in need of a refresher.

Friday, February 20, Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, 5 to 6:30 pm, FitRec, 915 Commonwealth Ave. $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers. Preregistration recommended, here.

BU Women’s Ice Hockey vs. Providence College

Head to Walter Brown Arena on Friday night as the Terriers take on Providence College in a Hockey East matchup. The game is part of BU’s Black History Month programming and City of Boston Week and marks the team’s final home game of the regular season. Streaming is available on ESPN+ if you cannot attend in person.

Friday, February 20, 6 to 9 pm, Walter Brown Arena, 285 Babcock St. Purchase tickets here.

Retromania 2026: A Retrospective Expo

Retromania returns for a two-day vintage market at the Cyclorama in the South End. More than 100 vendors from across New England will sell clothing, collectibles, records, books, and retro games, making it a one-stop shop for nostalgic finds. Marking its fourth year, the event has relocated downtown while keeping its focus on curated vintage and retro vendors.

Saturday, February 21, noon to 6 pm, and Sunday, February 22, 11 am to 6 pm, Cyclorama, 539 Tremont St., Boston; $5 general admission; $10 early entry on Saturday. Purchase tickets here.

BU Women’s Basketball vs. Lehigh University

There are just a couple of weeks left of the women’s basketball team’s regular season. Cheer on the Terriers when they host Lehigh University at Case Gym Saturday afternoon. Those who can’t make the game in person can stream it live on ESPN+.

Saturday, February 21, 2 pm, Case Gym, 285 Babcock St. Purchase tickets here.

Islander

BU’s College of Fine Arts School of Theatre presents Islander, a contemporary musical centered on a young woman who dreams of life beyond her remote island home. Conceived by Amy Draper with music and lyrics by Finn Anderson, the production runs in Studio ONE at CFA. The show blends live music and storytelling in an intimate performance space on Comm Ave.

Saturday, February 21, 2 pm, Sunday, February 22, 2 pm, Saturday, February 28, 7:30 pm, and Sunday, March 1, 2 pm, Studio ONE (CFA 104), 855 Commonwealth Ave. Free admission.
