BU has a vibrant dance community: it’s home to more than 20 different dance troupes and dance teams. Students can pursue forms from lyrical and hip-hop to classical Indian dance, Latinx dance, tap, and more.
And as the spring semester draws to a close, you’ll find them rehearsing across campus—in classrooms, gyms, hallways, and studios—as they prepare for end-of-year showcases and performances.
In the video above, dancers from several student groups talk about the importance of dance in their lives. “We all have that natural feeling when we hear music, to move our bodies,” says Siri Alegra-Berger (ENG’25), a member of Edge Dance Company. “Really everyone can relate with dance. It has the capability of bringing people together. I believe dance is in everyone.”
On Tuesday, April 29, in observance of International Dance Day, several BU student dance groups will perform in the GSU Metcalf Ballroom from 4 to 6 pm in an International Day of Dance pop up celebration. The free event will feature performances as well as workshops.
