The Weekender January 18 to 21
Check out a local comedy special, attend a BU-wide Winter Week of Welcome event, and support your Terriers against Colgate

Jan 18 to 21
BU is back! Luckily, it’s almost the weekend and we’ve got you and your friends covered with University-wide Winter Weeks of Welcome events, stand-up, and a one-man show you’ll never forget, so gather the group and get going.
Cloud Nine: Stand-Up, Feel Good!
The holiday season can be overwhelming. If you need a good laugh to take the edge off head to Davis Square’s stand-up special: Cloud Nine. Four local comics, plus host Jack Simon, will chat in an on-stage “living room,” perform respective routines, and riff off one another. This Thursday’s lineup includes headliner Nora Panahi, Beatles enthusiast Sean Rosa, Reductress writer Kathy Lynch, and self-described “silliest of idiots” Andrew Mayer.
Thursday, January 18, from 7 to 8:30 pm at 255 Elm St., Somerville, Davis Square. Reserve your tickets here for $15.
Stand Up If You’re Here Tonight
Award winning playwright John Kolvenback wrote Stand Up If You’re Here Tonight to blur the line between the play and the people there that night. Steeped in crushing isolation, craving a sense of connection, and intensely in love with the audience, Jim Ortlieb’s one-man act “does a crackerjack of a job leading viewers out of their doldrums and everyday problems, while immersing everyone in a collaborative community experience,” Colin Douglas of the Chicago Theatre Review says.
Friday, January 19, at 7 pm, Huntington Theatre Company. Buy tickets here. Use promo code DISCOUNT to access student pricing ($25).
Movie Night and PJ Party
Narnia and free pizza—can you think of a Friday night better spent? Boston University’s Winter Weeks of Welcome is kicking off the spring semester with its annual movie night and pajama party. Blankets will be given to the first 200 students, so hurry while supplies last!
Friday, January 19, from 8 to 11 pm, at the George Sherman Union Ballroom. Reserve your tickets here.
Boom Boom Bingo
Take a chance at the ultimate game of chance this Saturday and compete against your fellow Terriers at Boom Boom Bingo. Fuel up with a free Otto’s slice, assemble the dream team, and show off your Bingo bravado to win a mystery prize.
Saturday, January 20, from 7 to 10 pm, at the George Sherman Union Ballroom. Reserve your tickets here.
BU Women’s Basketball vs. Colgate
Support your #4 women’s basketball squad against the #1 ranked Colgate Raiders in this weekend’s highly anticipated Patriot League clash. BU has won eight out of nine games at Case Gym so far this season with the help of star forward Caitlyn Weimer (COM’24), three-time Patriot League Player of the Week and double double dignitary. Can the Terriers keep the Case streak alive? Pack the cave this Saturday and find out for yourself. Free Terrier basketball water bottles (while supplies last) included.
Saturday, January 20, at 2 pm at Case Gym. Reserve your tickets here.
Paint N’ Sip
Feeling like a Sunday soirée without all the expenses and obligation to clean your entire apartment for a two-hour catchup? Wind down with friends at Paint N’ Sip, an evening filled with—you guessed it—painting, mocktails, and hor d’oeuvres. The first come, first served guided class only fits 80 students, so be quick!
Sunday, January 21, from 2 to 5 pm, at BU Central. Reserve your tickets here.
