It’s Lobster Night—Grab Your Butter and Prepare to Get (Very) Messy
On Thursday, BU campus dining halls will serve more than 9,600 tasty crustaceans
BU’s traditional Lobster Night—one of the most festive culinary nights on campus—is Thursday, September 19. Dining Services will steam and serve upwards of 9,600 lobsters caught by Cape Ann Lobstermen in Gloucester, Mass. The Marciano, West, and Warren dining halls will be open and serving lobsters from 5 to 9 pm. For those not looking for lobster (and looking to avoid lines), Granby Commons will offer an alternate menu from 5 to 7 pm.
Now, for those of you wondering, how do I get my lobster? For students on campus meal plans, swipe into the dining halls like you normally would. For those not on dining plans and for faculty and staff, no need to fret. As well as dining swipes, the dining halls will accept cash, credit, and convenience points. You can also buy an additional round. Guests are welcome as well!
Along with the lobster, other dishes and sides include New England–sourced corn on the cob, apple-brined chicken, maple sage root vegetables, and butternut squash bisque. Vegan options include mushroom mac and cheese and corn chowder. To settle your sweet tooth cravings, check out the maple hasty bread pudding made with maple syrup from Vermont or the blueberry maple cobbler, full of fresh Maine blueberries.
As part of BU’s sustainability initiatives, Dining Services will not use plastic bibs this year, so don’t be shy about tucking a napkin into your shirt like a bib. Additionally, all of the lobster shells, dishes (which are compostable), and paper napkins will be collected and kept out of the trash stream.
