The building’s five floors are packed with tons of reasonably priced finds, like furniture, paintings, ceramics, sports memorabilia, and clothing—customers say it’s like arriving at a museum full of undiscovered treasures. Prices can sometimes be negotiated (if the vendor is present), so don’t hesitate to haggle if the conditions are right.

Hidden and Hiding (Tago ng Tago): Filipino Weaving by Bhen Alan
This new installation, on view at the 808 Gallery through December 3, highlights the experience of the Filipino diaspora. “Tago ng Tago,” which means “always hiding” in Tagalog, is a term used to describe Filipino immigrants with no visas or paperwork, because of either undocumented status or expired permits. Artist Bhen Alan’s intricate tapestries, made according to an ancient weaving tradition, include coconut and bamboo leaves, recycled plastics, woven rice sacks, fans, and feathers. Each element aims to highlight the hidden aspects of his cultural identity while examining Filipino survival and resilience abroad.
Hidden and Hiding (Tago ng Tago) is on view Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm, through December 1, at the 808 Gallery, 808 Commonwealth Ave., Boston. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
