Video: Student Dance Group UPro Offers Some Holiday Cheer from around the Globe
Dancers perform an original choreographed number to “Deck the Halls”
In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is looking for ways to be festive this holiday season. With that in mind, BU Productions student video producer Aaron Hwang (ENG’21) enlisted the help of his friends in the Boston University student dance group UPro (short for Unofficial Project) to provide some holiday cheer. They agreed to choreograph and perform a dance routine set to a contemporary version of the classic carol “Deck the Halls.”
In these not-so-typical times, the dance group had to find inventive ways to pull off the project. The dance number was choreographed by UPro copresident Sophie Lee (Questrom’22), currently studying at home in Seongnam, Korea, and Sarah Kim, a MassArt student. Then UPro members, both on campus and off, learned the routine and filmed themselves performing it. Hwang then synched the recordings and arranged the visuals in this delightful holiday video.
“Despite all the difficulties of being remote, this semester has been a chance for us to grow as a team,” Lee says. “When we heard about this opportunity to prepare a holiday video for BU, we thought it would be the perfect way to congratulate not only our team, but also everyone at school who has worked hard this semester to make the best out of the situation we were put in. Happy holidays from our family to yours!”
