Blues Barge Thursdays a Summer Staple
Free concert under the stars tonight at Boston Harbor Hotel

The Boston Harbor Hotel this year marks the 20th anniversary of its popular June through August Summer in the City entertainment series of free film screenings and outdoor waterfront concerts. One of the most popular in the series is Blues Barge Thursdays, a rotating roster of four of the city’s best blues bands. Up tonight is the Racky Thomas Band, a mainstay on the Boston music scene since 1995. Guests can sip cocktails and enjoy a meal by award-winning chef Daniel Bruce at the Rowes Wharf Sea Grille or come just to enjoy the music.
Berklee College of Music alum Thomas formed his eponymous band in 1995. He became a blues musician after seeing a Stevie Vaughn concert at Northeastern University in 1987. The band has four albums, with Thomas on vocals and harmonica, under its belt. The musicians have opened for major acts such as Ronnie Earl and have performed at blues events across the country and toured internationally as well as in the United States. The band will perform on the floating barge anchored in the harbor in front of the hotel, and will also appear on August 16.
Other Blues Barge Thursday acts: the Fat City Band (August 2), the Bruce Marshall Group (August 9 and 30), and the Jeff Pitchell Band (August 23). Concerts run from 6 to 10 pm.

The Summer in the City offerings are free and open to the public—no reservations necessary—but arrive a little early for the best seats.
The Boston Harbor Hotel, 70 Rowes Wharf, Boston, hosts its free weekly Summer in the City series through August 31. Tonight, July 26, Blues Barge Thursday features the Racky Thomas Band, from 6 to 10 pm. Take an MBTA Red Line train to South Station or a Green Line trolley to Government Center and walk.
