Though I agree with your sentiments of the ranking system being arbitrary and otherwise flawed, unfortunately, many parents, prospective students, and employers value these numbers and greatly take them into account when hiring for a full-time position or applying to schools. Overall, the rankings help the university and as a proud alumna, I can only be happy to see that my alma mater is seen in a positive light.

  1. It is satisfying to note that the School of Education is receiving praise. That praise rests on the shoulders of the Dean, the faculty and the exceptional student body. It would be equally satisfying to see the University invest some capital into improving the school’s physical plant. Walking through SED is like walking through the 60s. The facility is subpar when compared to rest of the University. Folks pay lip service to the value of education but chronically underfund it. When will SED have a building that measures up?
