Two people were shot and stabbed, and a third apparently stabbed, in Brookline Wednesday morning, WBUR reports. Boston University Police say they’ve had no notification that BU students or staff were involved.
An alert via BU’s emergency system notified community members to avoid the areas of 109 St. Paul St. and 75 Harvard St., Brookline. The alert said that Brookline Police were investigating in those areas.
“We don’t have any indication at this time that anyone from BU is involved,” says Scott Paré, deputy director of public safety and BUPD deputy chief.
The victims names have not been released, WBUR says.
The Boston Globe quotes police as saying the incident began with a fight inside an apartment building on St. Paul Street and that authorities were seeking a white car that left two of the victims outside a takeout restaurant at 75 Harvard St., several blocks way. WBUR reports that it’s unknown whether the men were shoved from the car or escaped.
Three Brookline elementary schools—the Lawrence School, the Pierce School, and St. Mary’s—were on lockdown because of the incidents, the Brookline Patch reports. Brookline police say they expect officers who were sent to the schools to oversee release at the regular time. The Patch also says that police are searching for a white Ford Focus with New York license plates reading, in part, GYR.
The driver is described as a young, light-skinned African American male with long, braided hair and black clothing, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, the Patch website reported.
