There are 2 comments on Whither Ukraine?

  1. “Regarding a western military action in defense of the rest of Ukraine: it isn’t going to happen, and it should not. But for Washington to say so in advance might make further aggressive moves by Putin more—not less––likely.”

Hopefully the Putin will not read Professor Lukes’ comments in BU Today and figure out the US have no intention of military action and in turn make further aggressive moves in the Ukraine.

But of course the tepid response from Washington thus far has already made it clear that we have no real intention of stopping him.

  2. Why is that NATO seeks to have a foot in the door next to Russia? It’s extremely provocative for the US to have had a role in overthrowing a democratically elected government. This involvement was revealed by intercepted State dept. communications.

Already, an agreement(Budapest Memorandum) signed under Clinton(1991) and re-affirmed by Obama in (2009) has weakened the Ukrainian position. In exchange for giving up their nukes,we have obligated ourselves to defending Ukraine. Ain’t gonna happen.
