Snowbrawl Strikes Back
Led by BU students, giant snowball fight attracts hundreds to the Esplanade
When Boston-area colleges decided Tuesday night to cancel classes Wednesday in light of a snowstorm expected to dump as much as 10 inches on the city, Christopher Lisinski created a Facebook event inviting students to meet at the Esplanade at 3 p.m. Wednesday for a chance “to go throw snowballs in innocent, good fun.” Lisinski (CAS’15) ended his invite to Snowbrawl Strikes Back with the words “I hope icy you there.” Within hours, more than 700 students had said they were coming.
This year’s giant snowball fight, a reprise of one that took place last February, drew college students from all over Boston and was as much about chasing friends around in the snow as about pummeling opponents with snowballs. Students heeded Lisinki’s admonition to “be respectful…we don’t want this snowballing out of control.”
It’s safe to say a good time was had by all.
