Splash into the New School Year
More than 300 student organizations at Sunday's event
If you’re new to campus and want to get involved in student life, you’ll want to put Splash! on your calendar. The annual activities fair, hosted by the Student Activities Office (SAO) will feature representatives from more than 300 student organizations, lots of giveaways, free food and drinks, and plenty of fun activities.
Splash takes place on Sunday, September 4, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Nickerson Field, immediately after Matriculation. The event is not just for freshmen—all returning students are welcome. It’s a great way to learn about religious life, club sports, community service, performing arts organizations, Greek life, and myriad activities, from chess to quidditch.
“Students should attend Splash because it’s a really good opportunity for them to get involved at BU early on,” says Bryan Adams, SAO programs coordinator. “Right after Matriculation, they can see how the BU community really comes together.”
This year’s event marks a departure from previous years, with only student groups participating. University departments, which took part in Splash in the past, will be showcased at the Comm Ave Fair, which is on Monday, September 5, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Splash giveaways include drawstring gym bags, pens, and Frisbees, and among the activities are bungee jumping, pedestal jousting, and an inflatable wrecking ball game.
Splash! will be held on Sunday, September 4, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Nickerson Field, in West Campus. Looking for a little preview and direction? Browse clubs ahead of time on the Student Activities website.
