YouSpeak: Get Your Costumes Ready
Students describe their Halloween getup
Halloween is less than a week away, and retailers couldn’t be happier. Americans are expected to spend more than $5 billion—that’s right, billion—this year on decorations, candy, costumes, and cards related to the holiday.
Industry analysts say the most popular adult costumes will be based on Lady Gaga and the cast of the MTV hit reality show Jersey Shore. Rubie’s, the company licensed to make Lady Gaga costumes and accessories, expects to sell at least a million Gaga items by Halloween, according to USA Today. Costumzee.com, a popular costume website, notes that the outré singer is the perfect muse when it comes to Halloween costumes because she “has a million looks for you to replicate.” You might, however, want to forego the bikini made of raw meat she recently sported.
The 2010 box office hits Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and Toy Story 3 are also projected to be popular this year with the millions of adults who plan to dress up for Halloween.
So, wondering what BU students plan to don this weekend, in our weekly feature “YouSpeak,” we ask, “What do you plan to wear for Halloween?”
“YouSpeak” appears each Monday.
