Science Students Get Help Polishing Their Resumes
Michelle Walk (MED’11) and the Graduate Medical Sciences Student Organization will lead a resume workshop on Thursday, February 28, at 10 a.m.

On March 28, the Graduate Medical Sciences Student Organization (GMSSO) hosts its second annual Career Fair on the Medical Campus, bringing students who study biological sciences together with potential future employers. But first, the group wants to help students spiff up their resumes.
The GMSSO will host a resume workshop on Thursday, February 28, at 10 a.m. at the School of Medicine. “Students can learn to optimize the content of their resume so that it is most appealing for each employer,” says Michelle Walk (MED’11), who is helping to organize the events.
Brian Murphy of Kelly Scientific Resources will lead the lecture-style workshop. “Kelly Scientific is a staffing company that specializes in matching job candidates with the best company, based on their resumes,” Walk says.
Students will then submit their polished resumes to the GMSSO, which will forward them to employers at the Career Fair.
The resume workshop, open to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the sciences, will take place on February 28 from 10 to 11:50 a.m. in Room 112 of the School of Medicine’s Instructional Building, 80 E. Concord St.
The Career Fair will be held on Friday, March 28, from noon to 3 p.m. in the School of Medicine’s Hiebert Lounge.
