Getting Jazzed Up
Boston’s free summer concert series kicks off today

The Newport Jazz Festival may get all of the glory, but Boston has its own swinging ragtime extravaganza. The 2008 Jazz in July summer concert series kicks off today, July 7, with an afternoon performance at South Station by the Rusty Scott Quartet, “some of the tightest jazz ‘cats’ you’ll hear on the Boston jazz scene,” according to Metronome Magazine.
With more than 28 free performances throughout the downtown area, Jazz in July brings together Boston’s finest local jazz musicians. For a complete list of performances, click here.
The Rusty Scott Quartet plays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today at South Station. For more information, click here.
