Get into the Spirit of Valentine’s Day with These Love Songs

A playlist curated to suit any Valentine’s Day plans.

Get into the Spirit of Valentine’s Day with These Love Songs

A playlist curated to suit any Valentine’s Day plans

February is the month of love and the best excuse to set the mood for it. Whether you’re planning a Galentine’s Day hangout, a cozy night in, or a Valentine’s moment of your own, music is the best way to set the scene.

As someone who’s constantly making playlists for my radio show, I’ve rounded up a few of my all-time favorite love songs. Consider this your go-to Valentine’s Day playlist, chosen by a fellow BU Terrier.

“So Easy (to Fall in Love)” by Olivia Dean

It’s no secret that Olivia Dean is the new queen of love songs. While her album is full of wonderful love stories, this song in particular is a standout. Dean’s take on falling in love with everything around you makes this the perfect jazzy ballad to add to your Valentine’s Day rotation. From the sound of the trumpet to the lyrics, the song isn’t just about romanticizing relationships; it’s about life as a whole.

“Something Stupid” by Frank Sinatra & Nancy Sinatra

Frank Sinatra is always a go-to when it comes to timeless love songs. This song perfectly captures the excitement and nervousness that come with a relationship. Sung as a duet with his daughter, Nancy Sinatra, the tune conveys the push and pull of a relationship. It’s classic and charming for both a romantic night out or a slow evening at home.

“You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain

Shania Twain is an expert at creating iconic hits, but she truly shines when it comes to making heartfelt songs. “You’re Still the One” is a love song commemorating Twain’s relationship with her husband. This song is perfect for those who are yearning and hopeless romantics. It’s both sincere and insanely catchy. It’s classic for a reason!

“You’ve Got the Love” by Florence + the Machine

This track by Florence + The Machine feels like pure joy and love bottled into song. With its powerful vocals and fun beat, “You’ve Got the Love” is the kind of song that makes you want to dance around your room with friends or scream the lyrics in the car. It’s a great song for a Galentine’s Day celebration or a spontaneous dance break.

“Real Love Baby” by Father John Misty

This song has become one of my personal favorites. “Real Love Baby” is upbeat and playful, celebrating the discovery of a genuine connection. It’s simple and straight to the point, yet undeniably romantic. It’s perfect if you are looking for something fun to play with your friends or loved ones.

So whether you’re celebrating love with friends, a partner, or just yourself, these songs are here to make your moments feel a little more special. However and wherever you’re spending V-Day, I hope these tracks find their way into your rotation—and maybe even the soundtrack to a few new memories.
