Campus Events Mark Human Rights Week
The Howard Thurman Center will host daily events in honor of Human Rights Week
This week, the Howard Thurman Center, BU’s cultural center, will hold a range of events and activities for members of the BU community in honor of Human Rights Week. The center, in the lower level of the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave., will feature a photo timeline of ongoing struggles in the human rights movement and will offer visitors the opportunity to write Letters of Hope to orphaned refugee children in Thailand and to draw or write on pieces of fabric that will be used to create a Human Rights Reaction Quilt at the end of the week. The Howard Thurman Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition, the center and the University’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholars will host daily events to recognize the struggles of those involved in the human rights movement.
