Magazine Recognizes SMG’s Bodie
SMG Prof Zvi Bodie is named one of the 100 most influential people in finance.

Zvi Bodie, the Norman and Adele Barron Professor of Management, Finance, and Economics at BU’s School of Management, is one of the 100 most influential people in finance, according to the June issue of Treasury & Risk magazine.
Bodie is the only academic on the magazine’s list of global trailblazers. “I have made it a priority to try and make the results of academic research available and comprehensible to financial professionals,” he says.
For the past 30 years, Bodie’s research has focused on pensions and retirement plans. Many analysts believe the current college-age generation will be responsible for financially supporting future retirees, and Bodie thinks that this needs to change.
“We have to find out how to proceed in an environment where we have promised too much to the older folks,” says Bodie, who specializes in managing the risks involved in saving and investing. His push for investment in inflation-protected securities and annuities “is challenging the conventional wisdom,” according to Treasury & Risk.
