The Bon Savants, which means good scientists in French, will play at BU Central on Oct 6, 2006.

The Bon Savants are a band a long time in the making, but their post-punk sound and numerous live performances have earned them increasing popularity, especially in Boston. They will perform at BU Central as part of its LIVE Concert Series on Friday, October 6. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the event begins at 9 p.m.

Band founders Thom Moran and Kevin Haley, who met in Frankfurt, Germany, in the mid-1990s, experienced the Cold War firsthand. The two Americans began to write songs that combined Moran’s love of science with Haley’s emotions about the war. They moved back to the United States in 1997 and have toured with indie bands such as the Editors, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and Feist, and they played at Piano’s in New York City in July. Moran was named Boston’s Best Male Vocalist by a Boston Phoenix Reader’s Poll this year.

Their self-released debut album, Post-Rock Defends the Nation, is set to be released on November 7. Click here to listen to the song Between the Moon and the Ocean.

The Bon Savants will play at BU Central with Up the Empire, who released their debut album, Seaside EP, in February 2006 and will tour the Southeast and West Coast this month.

All BU Central events are free with a BU ID. For more information, please contact Meghan Roberts at 617-353-3635 or via e-mail at bucentrl@bu.edu.
