Poet Franz Wright reads from “God’s Silence””
Hear the Pulitzer Prize-winner recite "Why is the winter light"
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Franz Wright will read from his latest book, God’s Silence, tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the MUG Richards-Roosevelt Room on 771 Commonwealth Avenue. In his new collection of poems, Wright expands on the spiritual joy found in Walking to Martha’s Vineyard. His other honors include two National Endowment for the Arts grants, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Whiting Fellowship, and the PEN/Voelcker Prize. The Viennese-born author has published more than 15 collections of poetry, as well as five translations of French and German poets. A reception with the author will follow reading, which is hosted by the Luce Program in Scripture and Literary Arts and the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center.
