Meet Deanna Cirino
BU's connection to the Huntington Theatre Company helped convince Deanna Cirino to attend the University.

Name: Deanna Cirino
From: Waldwick, New Jersey
School: College of Fine Arts
Intended Major: Theater Arts, Design and Production
What convinced you to go to BU?
I fell in love with the city of Boston. Of course, there are many colleges in Boston, but what convinced me to choose BU was how involved the school is with the city. In particular, I was interested in the theater program. I was impressed to see how integrated BU was with the Huntington Theatre Company. I also was drawn to BU’s community service programs like Making Music and FYSOP, which really get students involved in the city. So all in all, BU’s integration with the amazing city of Boston convinced me to go here.
What most excites you about college?
Living on my own. I know it’s going to be hard at first, but I’m excited to see what it feels like to have that kind of responsibility. Along with that, I’m anxious to form friendships with the other students just starting out on their own.
What courses are you interested in taking?
I can’t wait for my theater production classes. I’m sure they’ll be fun and I’ll learn so much.
What kinds of activities do you want to become involved in?
Definitely the community service activities and specifically, FYSOP and Making Music. Also, I’d like to be involved with an a cappella group and perform with BU on Broadway.
What will you miss most about home?
New York City. I love going into Manhattan with my friends to eat, see a Broadway show, or hang out in the park. So I guess that’s a combination of NYC and my friends.
What’s one interesting thing about yourself?
If I had to pick something interesting about myself, I would say that no matter what the situation, I can bet I’d have a show tune to sing!
