Name: Anisa Marie Blanks
From: Dallas, Texas
School: College of General Studies
Major: International business

What convinced you to go to BU?

The location and the strong international atmosphere.

What are you most excited about coming to college?

The opportunity to meet new people and extend my education on a higher level. I really want to experience what I did at boarding school. It was the greatest time in my life.

What kinds of activities do you want to become involved in?

I really love to dance, so for me that is an important activity to participate in. I also have a passion for languages and other cultures, so I definitely want to become involved in cultural activities.

What courses are you interested in taking?

International relations and language-related courses. I love to travel and want that to be a huge part of my career in the future.

What is one of the goals of your first year at BU?

To make a mark on the University. I want to be known for accomplishing or starting something amazing. I love to start trends.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest mountain in Africa). It was a gargantuan test of my willpower and motivation. I am very proud of myself for reaching the top with no complaints. It was not only a physical challenge, but also a personal one more than anything.

How are you spending your summer vacation?

I will be in Cancun all summer, hanging out with friends, partying, and trying to land a job working with dolphins.

What’s one interesting thing about yourself?

I went to boarding school in Switzerland for high school and therefore learned to speak Spanish and French fluently, but most importantly, I got to snowboard whenever I felt like it.
