Looks comfortable for a century-plus-old chair

In early March of 1869 the three founders of Boston University — Lee Claflin, Isaac Rich, and Jacob Sleeper — met in Rich’s home on Beacon Hill to sign a petition asking the state legislature to charter Boston University as a new corporation. Each sat in Rich’s favorite chair to sign the document. Often, the Founders Chair is displayed for special occasions, such as the inauguration of a University president.
