Holick honored for his work in vitamin D
MED's Michael Holick was honored recently for his clinical work showing the benefits of vitamin D.

While sun exposure can be dangerous, vitamin D received from sensible sun exposure can be important to good health, says Michael Holick, professor of medicine, physiology and biophysics at MED, and director of the General Clinical Research Center.
Holick was recognized recently for his exceptional clinical research in vitamin D nutrition and on the topics of skin and bones. He was awarded the Excellence in Clinical Research Award from the National Center for Research Resources at an annual GCRC meeting in Washington D.C. on March 18.
Holick’s research has shed light on the connection between sensible sun exposure and an increase in the body’s vitamin D consumption, which can improve bone health and decrease the risk of many chronic diseases. He is also the director of the Bone Healthcare Clinic and of the Vitamin D, Skin and Bone Research Laboratory at the Boston University Medical Center.
