A little evening music
Baritone James Demler and mezzo-soprano Penelope Bitzas — both faculty in CFA’s voice department — perform tonight at 8 p.m.

Students at the College of Fine Arts may know Penelope Bitzas, James Demler, and Shiela Kibbe as an associate professor of voice, chairman of the voice department, and chairman of the piano department, respectively. To music aficionados, however, Demler is the Houston Grand Opera’s Guglielmo from Cosi fan tutte and Bitzas is a former soloist with conductors including Kurt Masur and Seiji Ozawa. Kibbe, a former rehearsal pianist for the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, has been called a “superb collaborative pianist” by the Boston Globe.
The three musicians will perform together at the Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Ave., on Monday, October 23, at 8 p.m., as part of CFA’s faculty recital series. Works by Duparc, Rorem, Brahms, and Britten are on the program.
