COM students to face off at Great Debate
COM students Nick Barber and Neil St. Clair will face off at Wednesday’s Great Debate.

Should public schools teach "intelligent design" along with evolution? Nick Barber (COM’06) says they should, but Neil St. Clair (COM’08, CAS’08) says no way; the two will duke it out Wednesday evening as part of the College of Communication’s 20th annual Great Debate.
Barber, a broadcast journalism major, has interned on Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s reelection campaign and MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews and plans to attend law school. St. Clair, a broadcast journalism and political science major, is the secretary of the BU Debating Society and has worked for both WTBU and the Daily Free Press. They’ll be joined by fellow debaters Edward Sisson of the Washington, D.C., law firm Arnold and Porter, William A. Dembski, a mathematician and philosopher, Eugenie C. Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, and James Trefil, a widely published science writer.
The free public debate, which will be moderated by COM Professor Robert Zelnick, takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, at the Tsai Performance Center. Seating is first-come, first-served. Click here for more information.
