Calculation Weights for Postdoctoral Courses
The unit of measure for courses at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) is weights. The weight for all postdoctoral courses (both departmental and interdepartmental) at GSDM is measured using the following criteria:
- Didactic courses: 1 weight per hour of lecture per week
- Preclinical courses: 1 weight per three hours of coursework per week
- Clinical courses: 1 weight per four hours of clinic time per week (average)
- Independent or Directed Study or Field Experience: 1 weight per four hours of student effort (supervised and unsupervised) per week (estimated)
Units will be calculated using the above-noted formulas, rounded to the nearest 0.25.
