The First-Year Innovation Fellowship (FYIF) is a unique experience designed exclusively for first-year students to come together as a cohort and explore innovation early in their BU journey. Fellows develop a new creative idea or build on an existing one—whether a product, service, program, or social venture—and strengthen their problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills through customer discovery, market research, prototyping, and planning for real-world testing. Throughout the program, fellows connect with peers, mentors, faculty, and local changemakers, building meaningful relationships and discovering resources across BU and the city of Boston. Effective Spring 2026, this course fulfills a single requirement in the following BU HUB area: Creativity/Innovation.
