Pardee Associate Director Speaks at Meeting of New Grad Student Group

ALES LogoPardee Center Associate Director Cynthia Barakatt was an invited speaker at the October 1 inaugural meeting of the Boston University graduate student group Advocates for Literacy in Environmental Science (ALES).

ALES is a forum where graduate students actively engage in a cross-disciplinary dialogue to foster the interpretation, communication and development of policy-relevant environmental research. The group works to promote science literacy at all levels of the environmental decision making process, taking a science-based approach to addressing environmental issues.

Barakatt spoke to the approximately 20 graduate students at the meeting about some of the challenges of communicating environmental science across disciplines and to non-scientific audiences, and also provided some resources for learning how to overcome those challenges.
