Pardee Summer Fellows Attend Research and Writing Workshop

The 2012 Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows participated in a workshop on June 5 that offered tips and advice for conducting research and writing a policy-oriented research paper. Pardee Center Faculty Fellow Kevin Gallagher and Pardee Center Programs Manager Cynthia Barakatt led the two-hour session.

Prof. Gallagher discussed the importance of developing a clear research question, conducting a solid literature review, and identifying the other academics and policy practitioners working on the same topic. Barakatt spoke of the need to identify the intended audience for the paper as the first step in the writing process and offered specific tips for writing in a clear and concise style.

The Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows are writing policy-oriented research papers that they will submit at the end of the program in early August.
