Pardee Center Director, Prof. Adil Najam, spoke on multiple panels at an India-Pakistan Peace Conference held at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

The Indo-Pak Peace Conference, which took place at McGill University in Montreal, Canada on the 27th and 28th of March 2009, was a joint effort of the Pakistani Students’ Association and the Indian Student’s Association at McGill University.

Prof. Najam was one of the featured speakers on the panel on the Kashmir dispute. In his presentation he reviewed the history of the Kashmir dispute and argued that from a conflict-resolution perspective creation the “conditions” for peace and the “habits” of cooperation was more important than the search for “silver bullet” solutions.

Prof. Najam also spoke at the panel on “Water and Trade” and argued that global change processes, including those related to water, climate and human security will be at the core of the future trajectories for all of South Asia.
