(Boston) — Boston University has announced the appointment of Gary W. Nicksa as vice president for operations. Nicksa will direct a newly formed operations unit that will oversee the university’s facilities management and planning, real estate management, and Boston University Medical Center’s business affairs, and operations and public safety.
Nicksa, a certified public accountant, began his career at Coopers & Lybrand. He was also the chief financial officer for Newbury College and for Buckingham Browne and Nichols School. Nicksa also has extensive experience in real estate development as the former vice president for finance at Keith Properties, Inc. Most recently he worked in the health insurance industry as senior vice president of The Chickering Group, an Aetna company.
Nicksa holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree from Bentley College.
