California Sheet Music Project (Duggan)
A virtual library of over 2,000 pieces of sheet music published in California between 1852 and 1900.

Chopin Early Editions
When completed this collection will consist of digitized images of all scores in the University of Chicago Library's Chopin collection.  You may search for scores by title, genre, plate number, publisher or place of publication.

Choral Public Domain Library (CDPL)
The Choral Public Domain Library (CPDL) is a free sheet music website specializing in choral music. Begun in December 1998, it has over 5,000 scores listed in the database. Hundreds of volunteers have contributed music scores, and over 40 affiliated free sheet music websites are cataloged.

Center for Popular Music
The Center for Popular Music is an archive and research center devoted to the study of American popular music from the pre-revolutionary era to the present. Approximately 62,000 pieces of sheet music have been cataloged, and may be searched online.

Charles H. Templeton Sheet Music Collection
This sheet music collection, collected by businessman Charles Templeton, contains over 22,000 pieces of sheet music from late nineteenth and early twentieth century America.  It covers many genres, from the ragtime of Scott Joplin, the Dixieland of W. C. Handy, the smooth ballads of Irving Berlin, the stirring patriotic anthems of John Phillips Sousa and George M. Cohan to the early roots of big band.

Free Printable Music on the Web
This guide, prepared by Martin Jenkins, explains some of the most commonly found music printing formats on the web. Each is accompanied by sample sites that allow music to be printed or downloaded free of charge.

Historic American Sheet Music (Duke University)
"The Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke University holds a significant collection of 19th and early 20th century American sheet music. The Historic American Sheet Music Project provides access to digital images of 3042 pieces from the collection, published in the United States between 1850 and 1920."

IN Harmony: Sheet Music From Indiana
"IN Harmony: Sheet Music from Indiana is a search and discovery system for accessing sheet music from the Indiana University Lilly Library, the Indiana State Library, the Indiana State Museum, and the Indiana Historical Society. Funded through a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), IN Harmony features Indiana-related sheet music - sheet music by Indiana composers, arrangers, lyricists or publishers as well as sheet music about the state."

IMSLP/Petrucci Music Library (International Music Score Library Project)
Full-text scans of scores in the public domain, numerous contributors, over 20,000. Project also provides a clear and useful definition of public domain as defined in various countries as well as in the United States. After a hiatus from October 2007-Sept 2008 to resolve public domain interpretation, this project is again active. Use with caution. Wiki-style; lots of useful repertoire, scanning quality varies, some unconventional title or genre designations may appear.

Inventions of Note (MIT)
Established in 1997, this sheet music collection consists of popular songs and piano compositions that portray technologies as revealed through song texts and/or cover art.  A growing collection, over 50 titles are currently available.

Levy Sheet Music Collection
Part of Special Collections at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library of Johns Hopkins University, this collection contains over 29,000 pieces of popular American music spanning the period 1780-1960.  An image of the cover and each page of music is available if the music was published before 1923 and is in the public domain

Mozart: The Neue Mozart Ausgabe
The Digital Mozart Edition is a digitized facsimile edition of most of Mozart's instrumental and vocal works iin the NMA. Provided by the Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg.

Music for the Nation: American Sheet Music
Music for the Nation: American Sheet Music contains more than 62,500 pieces of historical sheet music registered for copyright during the years 1820--1885. Included are digital images of popular songs, operatic arias, piano music, sacred and secular choral music, solo instrumental music, method books and instructional materials, and music for band and orchestra.  The collection may be browsed by author, subject, or title or searched by keyword.

Popular American Music: Digital Archive
The UCLA Music Library's Archive of Popular American Music covers the history of popular music in the United States from 1790 to the present.  The archive is designed to provide access to digital versions of the sheet music, and performances of the songs now in the public domain.

Sam DeVincent Collection of American Sheet Music
The Sam DeVincent Collection of American Sheet Music, held at the Lilly Library at Indiana University , contains approximately 24,000 pieces of sheet music, songbooks, and folios. DeVincent collected sheet music for the artistry of the illustrated covers as well as for the music.
