Karen Brouhard, LICSW, CEAP

Karen Brouhard joined the FSAO as a counselor over 13 years ago and became the director in 2019.  She is a Licensed, Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who earned her Master of Social Work degree from Smith College in 1989.  She has worked in a variety of educational, medical, and mental health settings. Her experience includes co-directing the Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and serving as a Lecturer in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.  Karen’s interests include stress and burnout, psychological resilience, and mindfulness.  She loves the arts, particularly music and dance, and finds sustenance in her meditation practice and nature walks.

 

 

Sarah Henderson, LICSW, CEAP

Sarah Henderson is a Licensed, Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and yoga.  Sarah joined FSAO in 2020 after many years in private practice. She received her Master of Social Work Degree from Simmons in 2002 and has over 20 years of experience providing individual and couples counseling. Sarah is passionate about social justice and strives to create a welcoming and inclusive space for people to explore different aspects of their mental health and identity. Sarah has a strong interest in health and wellness and is a certified yoga teacher. Her own yoga practice and training are a wonderful complement to her interactive and collaborative counseling style.  Sarah enjoys spending time with family, traveling, walks with her dog, and reading nonfiction. 

 

 

Jelisa Bell Adair, LICSW

Jelisa Bell Adair is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in Internal Family Systems therapy and working within queer, polyamorous, neurodivergent, and BIPOC communities. Jelisa graduated with her Master of Social Work degree from Boston University School of Social Work in 2016. Jelisa has spent the majority of her career working in higher education, having worked at Wesleyan University, Framingham State University, and Emerson College before returning to Boston University in 2021. Jelisa maintains a small private practice in the Boston area and recently became a registered yoga teacher. Outside of work, Jelisa enjoys spending time with her loved ones (including her two beautiful cats), connecting with nature, and crafting.

 

 

 

Colleen McGuire, LCSW
Clinical Intake Coordinator

Colleen McGuire joined the FSAO team in 2019 and serves as the primary point of contact for most employees reaching out to the office. In addition to providing essential administrative support and scheduling appointments, Colleen meets with employees to coordinate referrals to community providers and resources. She is deeply committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, parents of queer youth, and parents at all stages including returning to work while managing home and professional responsibilities. Prior to joining BU, Colleen spent 14 years working closely with families of newborns and leading community playgroups. In May 2024, she earned her MSW from BU’s School of Social Work. Outside of work, Colleen enjoys bicycling, reading, and both creating and appreciating art.
