A Historic Moment

On October 4, 2023, Melissa L. Gilliam, a distinguished educator, scholar, research scientist, and physician, was introduced to the BU community, and the world, as Boston University’s 11th president at a welcoming event at the Tsai Performance Center. She comes to BU from The Ohio State University, where she has been the executive vice president and provost since 2021. Gilliam will officially start her tenure as BU president on July 1, 2024.
