Candlelight Vigil for Israel
Hundreds gathered Wednesday evening on Marsh Plaza at an emotional candlelight vigil in solidarity with Israel, organized by BU Hillel and BU Students for Israel. The vigil honored the lives lost this past weekend when the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel, massacred soldiers and civilians, and took hostages, prompting Israel to launch a deadly offensive. More than 1,600 Israelis and Palestinians have been killed since the weekend and thousands more have been injured. Among the speakers: Hillel managing director Ethan Sobel, Rev. Robert Allan Hill, dean of Marsh Chapel, Rabbi Brandon Bernstein, a University chaplain, and Yonatan Manor (COM’25), BU Students for Israel president (facing the crowd). “We are here today to remember and mourn the beautiful souls lost during the darkest time in Israel’s modern history,” Manor said.
