Kick off Pride Month with the LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff and LGBTQIA+ Faculty & Staff Community Network. We will have hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as music and a prideful ambiance to celebrate the month in style.

Pulse Remembrance Day

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the tragic shooting at the Pulse Nightclub, which was a popular LGBTQIA+ venue in Orlando, FL. The shooting occurred, on June 12, during Pulse’s weekly “Latin Night.” Many of the victims were Latine and 23 were Puerto Rican, having a significant impact on the Puerto Rican community. We will gather in community to honor and remember the 49 lives lost and all whose lives were forever changed by this tragedy in 2016.

Este año conmemoramos el décimo aniversario de la trágica masacre en el antro Pulse, un establecimiento popular LGBTQIA+ en Orlando, Florida. El tiroteo ocurrió el 12 de junio de 2016, durante la semanal “Noche Latina” de Pulse. Muchas de las víctimas eran latines —y 23 de elles eran puertorriqueñes—, lo cual tuvo un impacto significativo en la comunidad puertorriqueña. Nos reuniremos en comunidad para honrar las 49 vidas perdidas, así como a todas aquellas vidas cambiadas para siempre a raíz de esta tragedia.

Mark your calendars for our annual Pride Tie-Dye event on Monday, June 29! Drop in any time between 12 and 1:30 pm at the BUMC Talbot Green to pick up a free shirt and tie-dye it in whatever colors speak to your heart. While you’re there, enjoy some (also free) Otto’s pizza, including gluten-free and vegan options.
We recommend either footwear you don’t mind getting a bit messy or being ready to take off your shoes in the summer sun.
