For the fifth time, Boston University participated in the TechQual+ survey, which is used across a number of higher education institutions, provides valuable insights on the technology services provided by IS&T.
The survey, distributed at the end of September, was responded to by nearly 1500 faculty, staff, and students. As an incentive, survey participants were entered into a drawing to win an Apple Watch. Senior Leadership Gift Officer Zachary Dubin of the Development & Alumni Relations office won the watch – Congratulations Zachary!
The TechQual+ survey responses indicate areas that the Boston University community felt we are successful, and areas in which we can improve. IS&T’s highest ratings include training, IT service communication, support competence, input on IT services, and websites.
Areas to improve – where we fell below the community’s minimum expected service levels – varied by constituencies. Although not a comprehensive list of concerns, the following examples are representative of the types of issues highlighted in the survey. For instance, faculty members determined classroom technology, finance & HR systems and wireless coverage needed improvement. Wireless coverage was also a top concern for students. Staff agreed with faculty’s assessment of finance & HR systems services, and also accentuated a need for growth in student information systems, and student advising & support.
IS&T leadership have reviewed both the survey results and anonymous comments, which have resulted in a number of projects and initiatives to further improve service.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback as we continually strive to improve the service we provide to the BU community.
