Beginning August 3rd, IS&T and Sourcing & Procurement launched the new Guided BUying procurement system, replacing the legacy Terrier Marketplace. The new Guided BUying platform is part of SAP/Ariba’s cloud suite, offering the shopping community a modern, Amazon-like user experience, with a modern responsive design that works well on mobile/tablet devices, and is accompanied by a mobile application. In addition to the new user interface, Guided BUying provides the university shopper community with several critical new features, including a more visual representation of catalog options, an increased number of suppliers with eCatalogs, and cross catalog searching. Guided BUying also significantly reduces the clicks and time required to complete a full purchase requisition.

In addition to benefits for shoppers, the Guided BUying platform also offers numerous benefits to the university and our suppliers by way of automation and efficiency gains. Up to 70% of transactions can now be completed completely electronically, reducing paper processing. Suppliers now also have a self-service portal for payment status inquiries, and a transition from limit orders to contract invoicing, which integrates with the existing Ariba Contracts module that has been in use for several years.

More information on the Guided BUying service, including communications, training material, and sign-up for instructor-led trainings can be found on the Sourcing & Procurement website: https://www.bu.edu/sourcing/.
